The former Information Systems doctoral student Julio Angulo, now at Google Research is giving a Google Talk.

Julio Angulo was awarded his doctorate at Karlstad University in 2015 and is now doing research on user experience at Google. On 13 January he visited Karlstad University to give a lecture on his journey from Karlstad to Google to inspire students.

Toke Høiland-Jørgensen, PhD student in Computer Science at Karlstad University, has developed an open-source tool to reduce latency in the internet. He has now been recognised by Google for his contributions to the open-source movement and the development of the internet.
By its own account, Google depends on open source code and developers outside of the company.
Anna Jansson jumped in at the deep end. She has lived in Germany and Ireland, and for the last four years she has called San Francisco home. She started by taking freestanding courses at Karlstad University and today she is brand marketing manager at Google.
WHAT DID YOU STUDY AT KARLSTAD?
I studied at Karlstad University from 2002 to 2006.
Two PhD students and one student from Karlstad University have been to Google's 1st PhD Student Summit on Web Application Security, taking place 18-20 April 2016.
At the summit, in the Google Engineering Office in Munich, Germany, the students had the opportunity to explore complex and large-scale computing challenges.

After some hectic years during which he has made a long series of research investiagtions and also had time to spend 4 months as an internship at Google in Zürich, did Julio, some time before the planned date, defend his doctoral thesis.
Julio defended a thesis entitled "Designing for Usable Privacy and Transparency in Digital Transactions" which was based on some of his research publications.

According to a study by computer science researchers at Karlstad University, few people know how their personal data are collected, used, shared and accessed. The new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), coming into effect in 2018, will include higher demands on the possibility for users to access their own personal information.
Within a year the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), will be applied.

The research project Correlation Attacks against Tor (CAT) investigates new attacks on the Tor anonymity network to make it more secure in the long term. The project is funded by the Swedish Internet Foundation (Internetstiftelsen) and runs from the autumn of 2018 to March 2019.
Tor, an anonymity network with around 8 million daily users, is used to browse the Internet anonymously, circumvent censorship, and disseminate information anonymously.
