For the second year running, Computer Science at Karlstad University organized a workshop for external input on the research environment. Computer Science staff presented the research environment to an International Advisory Board (IAB) that gave feedback on the development of the research group.
In 2014, Computer Science was established as one of the two excellent research groups at Karlstad University.

Mobile broadband gives 30% lower performance than normal broadband. This is shown in a new study presented by Karlstad researcher Mohammad Rajiullah at The Web Conference 2019, a top-ranked (A*) conference held on the 13th –17th May in San Francisco, USA.

In the spring of 2017, I carried out my practical placement at Region Värmland’s European Office. I studied the political science master programme at Karlstad University and chose to complete my programme with international placement.
As a young university, we wish to preserve a long-standing academic tradition of ceremonies dating back to the Middle Ages, while commemorating our own history and identity.
Digital Well Arena is a collaborative initiative on digital solutions for a healthier life, between the public sector, academia, civil society, entrepreneurs and business in Värmland. Recently, a workshop was held to make an inventory of the needs for digitalisation in the healthcare sector, what problems society and individuals would benefit from having solved.

There was strong demand for places at the 11th International IFIP Summer School on Privacy and Identity held in Karlstad, Sweden last month thanks to recent changes in EU data protection regulations and the emergence of smart Big Data.

After three years of preparation, the international conference combining ECHA and IGMCG will finally take place during Midsummer week. The conference is held at Sundsta-Älvkullegymnasiet in Karlstad and brings together participants from around the world to explore inclusive education for gifted children.

In an article in Journal of Service Research (2015) with the title: “Service Research Priorities in a Rapidly Changing Context” Ostrom et al. outline key research priorities. The aim was to identify research topics that have the potential to advance the service field and provide significant benefits for customers, organizations, and society in general.
The introduction of new technologies such as machine learning and big data analytics requires new skills in employees and often new ways of working. It also enables new business models, such as MaaS (Manufacturing as a Service), which builds on lean principles and the adaptive smart factories of the future.
