On November 13-14, the IBS Conference, 3rd International Conference on Business Servitization, was held in Bilbao, Spain. Servitization, which was the theme of the conference, is what happens when manufacturing companies start focusing on services.

The usability lab, Ozlab, has been frequently occupied this spring, among other thins for eyetracking-surveys, updating of the manual and introductionfilms.
From the latter half of January we had two German students as internships for 10 weeks, Antonia Appel and Jakob Kümmerle, from DHBW, Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg. They helped students conducting various projects on undergraduate and master level with eyetracking equipment.

Karlstad University has appointed three new honorary doctors. One of them is Brian Hudson, Emeritus Professor of Education and former head of The School of Education and Social Work at the University of Sussex. He has worked closely with teacher education-related research at Karlstad University since 2015, particularly with the strong research group Rose, a multidisciplinary research environment with a special interest in subject didactics – learning and teaching in subjects.

Tue 21/9, 13.15–15.00, ISLI PhD student seminar. New PhD student Denny Jansson presents preliminary research plans for his dissertation project.
That was the topic for a recent conference that concluded the project called “Place-based digital experiences (PDU)”. Three places – the Glaskogen nature reserve, the Kristinehamn archipelago, and the town of Sunne, with a focus on culture and narrative – were studied in depth by Karlstad University researchers.

Martiina, tell us about your background
– I graduated with a master’s degree in marketing from the Turku School of Economics in Finland at the end of last year. During my studies, I developed an interest in sustainability themes, which I then explored further in my master’s thesis which focused on sustainable consumption.
What made you interested in applying for the PhD-position?
– Last spring, I applied for a position within a project that studi
