Alexandre Sukhov is awarded the IMIT scholarship 2020, for his doctoral thesis "The human side of idea screening" and receives SEK 25,000. "I am deeply honoured for the recognition and the acknowledgement of my research by the IMIT foundation. To me, this signals that my doctoral work is relevant and holds good quality, which is really nice to know after doing several years of research.

On March 9 we will start our open networked learning course Making Sense of Service Logic. The aim of the course is to introduce central concepts of service research, by applying them to different business and organizational contexts.

Open access deals with publishers

Karlstad University Library has agreements with a number of scientific publishers where the fees for publishing open access are either prepaid or discounted. The library is a member of the Swedish Bibsam consortium at the Royal library, who negotiates these agreements on a national level. If you are an author/researcher affiliated to Karlstad University, you can publish open access under the terms of these agreements.

Religious Studies is by definition an international discipline and has been organised in this way at Karlstad University for a long time. The impact of today’s global and multicultural society is present in all our subject courses. Our department is often visited by international guest lecturers who discuss religion and the teaching of religion in different national contexts from varied perspectives and give the students many opportunities for international insights.

Petter Falk, new doctor in Political Science at Karlstad University and the Service Research Centre (CTF), sheds light on conditions and grounds for datafication in his doctoral thesis “Assemble Care // Align Data”. – What surprised me the most was that datafication is intuitively accepted, despite a kind of intellectual resistance, says Petter Falk. The term “big data” is frequently used nowadays, but your research emphasises the importance of the small details.

The requirements on both services and suppliers are becoming higher and regardless if the user is called customer, citizen, local resident, or patient, it is the experience that makes the difference. To offer services based on the user’s requirements is becoming increasingly important.
