We welcome Katrin Lättman who is our new Ph D Student in Psychology. She will conduct her Ph D Studies within Samot, The Service and Market Oriented Transport Research Group, where she will study experienced accessibility within public transport.  
Mental illness among young people in relation to socio-economic factors and physical activity was the topic at the "Meet a Researcher" lunch seminar at Karlstad University on September 24, 2019. Yunhwan Kim and Li Ma at the Centre for research on child and adolescent mental health (CFBUPH) talked about their research. Mental health problems are due to various factors in society.

In Brazil, 63% of the population receives primary health care at home, and the introduction of digital aids has revolutionized healthcare. What do you do today? “I manage transactions and the land profile at HSB ProjektPartner. This means that I am responsible for the entire transaction process for the real estate business our company conducts when we buy land on which we later build housing. After graduating, my first job was at SBAB as a mortgage consultant.

For some, anonymity on the internet is a necessity. Researchers at Karlstad University, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Princeton University have discovered a new attack against the Tor anonymity network that uses the Domain Name System (DNS). Tor is the world’s largest anonymity network with around two million daily users, and it is used to avoid surveillance and to circumvent censorship online.

Henrik, you recently began your doctoral studies in Geomedia at Karlstad University. Tell us about your background. - I have a Master’s in cultural studies from the University of Gothenburg and an interdisciplinary background in humanities with a great interest in culture and social policy issues. I’m interested in the way geomedia affects society and culture, and the spatial aspects of media. Tell us about your research project - The idea is to focus on digital exclusion in public transport.

Social media has helped normalise the far right. The algorithms amplify and advance strong feelings and opinions and turn us all into consumers of extreme views. This has been identified in Enjoying the Fall, a new doctoral thesis at Karlstad University by Pasko Kisić-Merino. – One example is how the idea of “the immigrant”, in particular the male immigrant, is constantly being connected to violence, criminality, and genderphobia at the hands of the far-right.
