Natural Sciences
Fresh seas, non-polluting transportation and good food produced by sustainable methods are examples of future challenges that affect us all. Natural science is largely the foundation and the means by which the conditions for our daily lives and cultural evolution are determined. It also provides knowledge of the human race and its place in the universe.
Karlstad University excels in the natural sciences. Research in this sector receives attention far beyond the Swedish borders. Networking and cross-disciplinary cooperation enrich research and education. Students soon discover that the modern university dares to challenge old truths and explore the unknown. In Värmland, there are several major companies in, for instance, the forest industry, steel and engineering industries, and food and packing industries. In Karlstad students come in contact with potential employers long before they graduate and many also choose to make international contacts by doing their practical placement or degree project abroad.
Students are free to choose the direction in which they want to pursue further studies after graduating.
