The purpose of Ozlab is to provide ways of experimenting with graphical user interfaces to obtain acceptable design solutions. Our way of experimenting allows inexperienced designers – for instance, future users of a system – to be designers on a conceptual stage.
Stefan BackiusStefan Backius is a historian specializing in the social and cultural consequences of deindustrialization in industrial communities, with a particular focus on Bergslagen – a historically significant industrial region in central Sweden. Through microhistorical methods and place-based perspectives, he examines how local experiences and memories of work and industrial transformation shape identity and community development.

What is research data?Research data is information and material collected or generated during the research process, and that form the basis for a scholarly analysis, regardless of the research domain.The research funding body requests a data management plan – what is that?A data management plan is requested because it supports the possibility of sharing data with others.
Karlstad University’s user lab are used by different disciplines and also in collaboration with external parties. Within the research group for usability studies, there is also the development of methodologies for interaction design, especially around Ozlab which is a GUI experimental web service developed to admit easy testing, even improvisation, of ideas for interactive products. It admits non-programmers to become concept developers and interactivity testers.
