Utmärkelsen HR Excellence in Research från EU-kommissionen är ett bevis på att vi arbetar kontinuerligt för att utveckla en stimulerande arbetsmiljö och goda villkor för forskare. Utmärkelsen garanterar också vårt engagemang för rättvis och transparant rekrytering samt gynnsam professionell utveckling för forskare.
- Vår ansökan som nu beviljats ska vi använda för att göra det tydligt för utländska forskare att Karlstads universitet är ett tryggt universitet med ordning och reda där forskare kan utvecklas med goda villkor, säger rektor Johan Sterte.
År 2005 utfärdade Europeiska kommissionen en rekommendation om ”The European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers”. Förkortat kallat Charter & Code.
Syftet med Charter & Code är att skapa världens mest konkurrenskraftiga kunskapsbaserade ekonomi med hjälp av europeisk forskningsverksamhet.
Genom att förbättra förutsättningarna för fri forskning, främja en öppen arbetsmarknad för forskare och möjliggöra rekrytering och behålla enastående forskare, kan ett starkt europeiskt forskningsområde etableras och därmed en attraktiv och hållbar arbetsmarknad för forskare.
Att Karlstads universitet mottagit utmärkelsen innebär att ett systematiskt arbete pågår med att implementera Charter & Code.
The Charter and Code ger rekommendationer och riktlinjer för god praxis vid rekrytering och anställning av forskare på alla karriärnivåer. De omfattar alla forskningsområden inom den offentliga och den privata sektorn.
- Implementeringsprocessen är ett långsiktigt åtagande och ligger i linje med universitetets mål för ökad internationalisering och att vara en attraktiv arbetsgivare, säger Ingrid Ganrot, HR-chef.

EU award shows good conditions for researchers at Karlstad University
The HR Excellence in Research Award granted by the European Commission is proof that we are successful in creating a stimulating working environment and excellent conditions for our researchers. The award also guarantees our commitment to fair and transparent recruitment, as well as favourable professional development for researchers.
”Our application, which has now been granted, will be used to make it clear to researchers outside of Sweden that Karlstad University is a safe and well-organised university that allows researchers to develop under excellent conditions”, says Vice-Chancellor Johan Sterte.
In 2005, the European Commission issued a recommendation about “The European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers”, in short referred to as the Charter & Code. The purpose of the Charter & Code is to create the world’s most competitive knowledge-based economy with the help of European research activities. By improving the conditions for free research, promoting an open labour market for researchers and enabling the recruitment and retention of outstanding researchers, a strong European research area can be established and thus an attractive and sustainable labour market for researchers.
The fact that Karlstad University has received the award means that systematic work is underway to implement the Charter & Code.
The Charter & Code provides recommendations and guidelines for good practice in the recruitment and appointment of researchers at all levels of their career. It covers all areas of research in the public and private sectors.
