Industry 5.0 to promote innovation and sustainability in manufacturing
The EU programme titled Industry 5.0 aims to employ research and innovation to achieve a more sustainable and human-centric European industry. Some of the work within this initiative is carried out at Karlstad University. This week will see the installation of an industrial collaborative robot, which will not only increase the quality of our engineering courses and programmes but also strengthen the collaboration with industry partners within the project.

PROCESS MODELLING FOR MORE EFFICIENT PULP AND PAPER MANUFACTURING
Integrated paperboard manufacturing consists of a number of unit processes that continuously generate large amounts of process data. Manufacturing is energy-intensive and variations must be taken into account to achieve the optimal production process. A new thesis at Karlstad University shows how different mathematical models can be applied to the processes in aspects of improved product quality and reduced energy use.
Karlstad University has more than 200 exchange agreements with universities in about 35 countries around the world. Each year we welcome approximately 250 international exchange students.
