On November 6-8 researchers from Karlstad University presented several papers connected to 5G and future network architecture. The rapid digitization we are experiencing right now demands extreme capacity from communication networks and to meet these demands new and more automated and flexible network architectures are needed.
Expanding and implementing new functions and services for current networks is often expensive and demands a lot of resources.

During the autumn four groups of students on the course Service Management and IT have worked with interviewing different target groups and suggesting improvements of a prototype to a digital matching service, which Compare has produced.
The purpose is to support companies to get started with investments on digitalizing and to get more innovative small and medium companies through digital innovation.

This week we will start a relocation project. Books that currently are placed in numerical order (2015: 344), will be relabelled and placed by subject.
The books will be marked with a subject code and a sequence number, for example V 2011: 1 or Im 2017:20. This will make it easier both to find books by subject, but also to find newly acquired books.
The relocation of the books are expected to be completed by autumn semester 2018.

We welcome Fredrik Johansson who will work full time certain months at Karlstad university during the academic year 17/18. He will teach courses in database design, programming and web.
Fredrik’s ordinary work is at the Karlstad branch of the Norwegian company Cerpus where he helps the company’s client with their web sites.
On 3–4 October the research profile on High Quality Networked Services in a Mobile World (HITS) held its fourth annual workshop since the start of the profile in 2014.
