Ph D Student in Business Administration at CTF and MIT. You are one of our researchers who met with Stefan Löfven, Leader for the Swedish Social Democratic Party, who visited CTF and Karlstad University on March 7, what did you talk about??
- First of all I want to say that it was a great opportunity for me to meet Stefan Löfven. I presented my current research from my first year of PhD studies at CTF.
We welcome Katrin Lättman who is our new Ph D Student in Psychology. She will conduct her Ph D Studies within Samot, The Service and Market Oriented Transport Research Group, where she will study experienced accessibility within public transport.

Until the end of April, Per Kristensson, Professor of Consumer Psychology and Innovation, is a Visiting Professor at the Center for Service Leadership, one of the flagships of Arizona State University. We had a chat with Per to see how he is doing.
Hello Per, how is life at Arizona State University, ASU?
- It is great! ASU is large, with 77,000 students and 12,500 employees. The University is ranked second highest in the U.S.
The journal article “Relationship Characteristics and Cash Flow Variability: Implications for Satisfaction, Loyalty and Customer Portfolio Management” by Crina Tarasi, Ruth Bolton, Anders Gustafsson, and Beth Walker, Journal of Service Research, May, is one of MSI's "Must Reads" from 2013.

We welcome Gabriella Arcese Ph. D in Commodity Science, and Laura Di Pietro Ph. D student in Commodity Science and Quality Management, from Roma Tre University, who are visiting us for the coming three weeks to work with Professor Bo Edvardsson and Ph D Student Kotaiba Aal.
Laura Di Pietro is a Ph D student in Commodity Science and Quality Management at the Department of Business Studies.
Bo Edvardsson, Professor at CTF and Assistant Vice Chancellor at Karlstad University, have received the Visiting Erskine Fellowship at the College of Business and Law at University of Canterbury, New Zealand.
Bo Edvardsson will spend a month as a visiting Professor at University of Canterbury. The university is located in Christchurch, the largest city on the south islands, with about 350 000 inhabitants.
Erik Wästlund, Lecturer in Psychology and researcher at CTF, appears in the latest issue of the popular science magazine Scientific American. The article talks about how people easier understand and remember text on paper compared to text on a screen.
- As a part of my Ph D thesis I conducted a study where I compared reading comprehension between paper and screen. The results showed that text on paper was easier to understand.
.. Professor at CTF. You are leaving for Arizona State University during the Christmas Holidays. What are you going to do there?
- I will spend four months as Visiting Professor at The Center for Service Leadership. I will meet and work with Professors Mary Jo Bitner och Amy Ostrom.

- I have established connections there through CTF and have visited the University serveral times during shorter periods.

- Thanks. It's great to be back. I'm here to prepare the new joint PhD position between CTF and Eawag. Thankfully, we have a very promising candidate and we now just want to manage the administrative challenges. In addition, I had a meeting with the company Metso yesterday, we discussed one of my former research topics on service business in China.
…Professor in Consumer Psychology and Innovation at CTF. You are going to Arizona State University, USA at the end of this month. What are you going to do there?
- I am going to spend four months as a guest researcher at the Center for Service Leadership.
During the fall 2013 two new Ph D Students in Business Administration have joined CTF.
Emma Axelsson will pursue her doctoral studies on business models in retail- and manufacturing industries. She will be tied to the research profile Service Innovation for Sustainable Business where Martin Löfgren, Associate Professor will be Emma’s supervisor.
In December 2013 CTF has been appointed Excellence research group at Karlstad University.
- With this appointment we are given the opportunity to develop and further strengthen our position as one of the leading research centers on service innovation in the world, says Director Henrietta Huzell.?
As an Excellence research group CTF will receive up to 15 million SEK a year, for up to five years.
Joann Peck has been appointed Visiting Professor at CTF. The Visiting professorship is funded by Anne-Marie and Gustaf Ander Foundation for Media Research, which provide grants to cover the cost of a visiting professor at the CTF for a month during the next three years.
- I am so excited to be invited as a Visiting professor at CTF and Karlstad University. I have been fortunate to work with Anders Gustafsson at CTF on several projects in various retail settings.
You’ve been appointed assistant director for Vipp Industrial graduate school as from January 1st 2014. Why is a professor in Psychology interested in industrial research in general and the forestry industry in particular?
– I do research in psychology with business implications - among other things user innovation, creative organizations, service innovation and management.
We welcome Stephen Flowers, Head of the Centre for Research in Innovation Management (CENTRIM) University of Brighton, who visiting us this week to meet with researchers Peter Magnusson and Per Echeverri.
Stephen Flowers directs research activity within the Centre and also leads the Open and User Innovation research theme.

We caught up with Ph D Student Miha Uratnik, University of Ljubljana, Slovenien, who is currently visiting CTF. Hello Miha, what brings you to CTF, and what kind of research are you working on right now?
- I am visiting CTF for two weeks to meet with Professor Per Kristensson, and other researchers at CTF. My research area is in service innovation with focus on customer relations (e.g. co-creation, co-production) and the role of social media.
Owen Waygood, assistant professor in the École supérieure d’aménagement du territoire et de développement régional (ÉSAD; Graduate School of Spatial Planning and Regional Development) at Université Laval in Quebec City, Canada, is visiting CTF this a week to meet with Margareta Friman, Professor and Director of Samot, and other researchers within Samot.
