Kauotic Hacking Club presents: Digital Lockpicking
You tap a plastic card at the door, and the lock automagically opens. If you have access, that is. How do our cards, which we blip and tap everywhere, actually work? To open doors, to register for gym class, to pay for busrides, borrow books at the library, and as wristbands to access swimming pools?
I’ll take you on a journey and show you what’s inside these everyday cards. I’ll explain how they communicate and reveal the information they contain. We’ll explore how this information is meant to be protected and discuss the consequences when it doesn’t work as intended. We’ll mix theory with practical demonstrations, and you’ll rethink the concept of ‘holding onto your wallet tightly.’
