Snart ska alla EU:s trycksaker finnas på biblioteket
2000-11-01Nu ska Karlstads universitet ansöka om att bli Sveriges tionde EDC-bibliotek, ett Europa Documenation Centre. Det innebär att alla EU:s trycksaker finns tillgängliga här, rättsfall, lagtexter, kommissionsförslag etc. Annelie Ekberg på biblioteket är den som håller i ansökan och hoppas nu att alla med projekt eller kurser med EU-anknytning ska höra av sig.
En förutsättning för att bli EDC-bibliotek är att vi kan visa att universitetet jobbar med att få upp frågor om EU på tapeten och synliggöra att Sverige är ett EU-land, exempelvis genom studentprojekt. Annelie Ekberg arbetar nu med att samla in så mycket information som möjligt om de projekt och annat vid universitetet som på något sätt har EU-anknytning. – Exempelvis vill jag gärna få in alla Utbildningsplaner/kursplaner där det framgår att utbildningen/kursen syftar till EU-integrering, säger Annelie Ekberg.
I och med vårt nya bibliotek kommer vi att ha plats för materialet. Samtliga övriga svenska universitet har redan EDC-bibliotek, men efterfrågan finns även här.
– Dessa handlingar behövs i många kurser, exempelvis inom rättsvetenskap, säger Annelie Ekberg. Nu får vi ringa och beställa från andra bibliotek. Det känns som en stor brist att vi inte har materialet.
Om Karlstad får EDC-bibliotek ingår det i uppdraget att göra materialet tillgängligt för allmänheten och att informera om att det finns här och hur man hittar i det. Det handlar om en stor mängd handlingar och tidsskrifter.
– Vi får också gratis tillgång för alla biblioteksbesökare till EU:s databaser , t ex Celex med lagförslag, lagar etc.
Annelie Ekberg hoppas att universitetet ska kunna skicka en ansökan till Europakommissionen i början av nästa år.
– Jag tror att Sveriges ordförandeskap i EU i vår kommer att öka intresset för de här frågorna.
Hon har redan träffat en av de ansvariga inom EU-organisationen för detta och fått kommentaren att Karlstad låg geografiskt bra till. Det finns få EDC-bibliotek i västra Sverige.
