Karlstads universitet i samarbete med Värmland Classic Festival
2002-05-16Nu utvecklar Karlstads universitet sin roll som kulturbärare och går in i ett utökat samarbete med Värmland Classic Festival. Hela arrangemanget kommer att hållas i universitetets lokaler, främst i Aula Magna, men också i Universitetsforum. Festivalen, som hålls 22 - 24 augusti bjuder på ett bredare program än tidigare - med en rockig konsert på lördagskvällen i förhoppning att även locka en yngre publik.
Idag presenterades programmet vid en presskonferens och såväl Lars Hammar, ordförande i stiftelsen Värmland Classic festival som rektor Christina Ullenius uttryckte sin glädje över samarbetet.
- Karlstads universitet har en tydlig roll att bidra till ett utvecklat kulturliv – vetenskap och konst i skön förening. Och när kulturlivet frodas, växer också förutsättningarna för innovationer och företagande i vår region. Det här ger oss även tillfälle att visa de spännande möjligheter vår nya Aula Magna bjuder på – och det sätter oss på prov nu när vi går in i en verksamhet som är ny för oss, säger Christina Ullenius.
Årets festival är av en annan karaktör än tidigare år. Syftet är att försöka nå fler grupper och bredda begreppet klassisk musik. Programmet är också något kortare än tidigare år. Den 22 augusti invigs konserten på temat Classisk Filmmusik, med sång av bland andra Jill Johnsson. Dirigent är Anders Berglund, känd bland annat från TV:s ”Så ska det låta”. Dagen efter, den 23 augusti, är temat Classiska Operapärlor. Då framträder bland andra Håkan Hagegård, hedersdoktor vid universitetet, och Anna Larsson som sjungit på scener i Berlin och Chicago. Lördagen bjuder på en annorlunda form i Universitetsforum, samtal kombinerat med musik. Ernst Brunner, som i höst är aktuell med en ny bok om Bellman, samtalar med Camilla Lundberg, musikchef vid Sveriges television och känd som musikkritiker och författare. Allt till tonerna av Värmlands sinfonietta.
- Det blir mindre klassisk västerländsk konstmusik i år, säger han. Vi vill bredda konceptet och nå fler grupper, särskilt studenter. Därför har vi på lördagskvällen lagt in en rockig konsert med såväl orkester som artister. Lagaylia Frazier och Odd René Andersen sjunger till exempel låtar av Stevie Wonder och Marvin Gaye. Det blir Soul, Rythm n’ Blues – en ”groovy” kväll, konstaterar Ole Viggo Bang, sedan många år konstnärlig ledare för festivalen.
Trots osäkerhet in i det längsta går alltså festivalen, som förra året firade 10 års jubileum, vidare och utvecklas. Näringslivet ställde sig i våras helt bakom en fortsättning och nu återstår att övertyga även de offentliga aktörerna om värdet av Värmland Classic i en bredare tappning.
- Idealet skulle vara att få en grundfinansiering för en projektledare, som skulle kunna jobba med festivalen under hela året, säger Lars Hammar. Jag tror att Värmland Classic festival kan utvecklas på ett mycket bra sätt – inte minst genom samarbetet med Karlstads universitet och dess studenter.
