International course about thinking as entrepreneurs
2016-10-27The Information Systems department at Kau from the autumn 2016 offer an international semester on the under-graduate level.
The first international semester course delivered was the “Service Management and IT: e-Business” (ISGC07) course. There were 7 exchange students participating in this course: 1 from Australia, 1 from Thailand, 1 from Slovakia and 4 from the Netherlands.
The five course groups all studied the same real case: Verksamt Värmland.
Verksamt.se is a collaboration among three Swedish government agencies: the Swedish Companies Registration Office (Bolagsverket), the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket). Verksamt.se brings together structured information and services for those entrepreneurs considering starting, being in the process of starting, already running, or wanting to develop or will be closing, a firm in Sweden.
The groups studied three different target groups of Verksamt Värmland.
The Project Work task was to investigate what the different target groups’ needs are, and what tools and information they are missing. The method used was Drivhuset’s entrepreneurship education, including models and tools such as Business Model Canvas, Value Creator, Loopa, pitching, etc.
The Project Work groups were tutored by Martin Hamilton at Drivhuset Karlstad and Odd Fredriksson, Kau, leading to many improvement proposals, new functionalities and creative ideas, which were highly appreciated by Verksamt Värmland’s representatives.
In the course evaluation the course participants expressed their high appreciation of this innovative ‘hybrid’ project work. The innovativeness of the Project Work design consists of combining Drivhuset’s education with traditional academic analysis into one Project Work.
