Under Akademisk högtid 2019 installerades sju professorer och 23 doktorer promoverades. Dessutom fick hedersdoktorerna Karin Sjöberg Wallby och Sture Nordh sina hattar och alla som ville hade möjligheten att lära sig mer om den forskning som bedrivs vid Karlstads universitet. Temat för årets högtid var hållbarhet. English version below.
Högtidsdagen som inföll den 11 oktober började med att de sju professorerna berättade om sin forskning och sina drivkrafter för allmänhet, studenter och kollegor. Årets hedersdoktorer Karin Sjöberg Wallby och Sture Nordh deltog i ett samtal som leddes av Martin Grimberg Löfgren.
- Jag är stolt, sa Sture Nordh. Det gör mig glad att det är mitt arbete för ett förbättrat arbetsliv och för resurser till forskningen om arbetslivet som uppmärksammas av Karlstads universitet. En av de största hållbarhetsutmaningarna inför framtiden gäller arbetslivet.
Akademisk högtid hålls sedan medeltiden vid lärosäten runt om i världen för att fira att forskare nått sådana färdigheter att de kan tas upp i det vetenskapliga kollegiet.
Under eftermiddagen hölls högtidlig ceremoni i Aula Magna där professorer, hedersdoktorer och doktorer mottog tecknen på sin värdighet, de så kallade insignierna. Installation av professorerna och promovering av doktorerna samt hedersdoktorerna varvades sedan med stämningsfulla musikinslag av studenter från Musikhögskolan Ingesund, kören Söt likör och Linnea Henriksson. I aulafoajén förgylldes festligheterna med underhållning av universitetets dansstudenter.

Sustainable academic celebration at Karlstad university
During the 2019 Academic Celebration, seven professors were inaugurated and 23 doctoral degrees were conferred. Furthermore, the honorary doctors Karin Sjöberg Wallby and Sture Nordh received their hats, and everyone were welcome to find out more about the research conducted at Karlstad University. The theme for this year’s celebration was sustainability.
The Academic Celebration tradition dates back to the Middle Ages, and higher education institutions around the world celebrate researchers who have reached the level of competence required to be included in the scholarly community.
The Celebration, which took place on 11 October, began with the seven professors talking about their research and their motivation to an audience of students, colleagues, and members of the public. This year’s honorary doctors Karin Sjöberg Wallby and Sture Nordh took part in a panel conversation with the moderator Martin Grimberg Löfgren.
- I am proud, Sture Nordh said. It pleases me that my work for an improved working life and for resources to research in this area is what Karlstad University has rewarded. One of the most important sustainability challenges for the future concerns our working life.
In the afternoon, there was a festive ceremony in Aula Magna, as professors, honorary doctors, and doctors received signs of their dignity, the so called insignia. The professorial inauguration and the award ceremony for doctors and honorary doctors were then alternated with inspiring music played by students from the Ingesund School of Music and Linnea Henriksson. In the foyer outside the aula, the festivities were further enhanced by entertainment performed by Karlstad University dance students.
