Study programme
As a student in the Bachelor´s Programme in Information Systems with Business Perspectives – business and economics specialization – you will learn how digital tools and business systems can be used to develop organizations, analyze data, and solve real financial challenges. Throughout the program, you gain both strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience, while being trained to think strategically, sustainably, and with a business mindset. If you want to work with digital business development, data analysis, or IT support for smarter decision-making – this is the education for you.

Education
This specialisation comprises at least 90 ECTS credits in information systems with an emphasis on enterprise systems and their particular problems. Working with and understanding enterprise systems and their application and integration in the organisation requires a familiarity with information systems and business administration: therefore, business knowledge is an important component of this programme. Students on the programme acquire insight into the complexity of IT in organisations and the problems it poses for users and developers. The programme has ties to current research, and graduates will therefore be well prepared for challenging and developing careers. Students may choose to further specialise in information systems and business administration.Form of Instruction
The programme represents full-time work, with an average of three to five days of scheduled classes a week at Karlstad University. Students will also participate in various projects. Active participation in the courses is required and students are expected to study extensively, and gradually more and more independently, on their own. Field studies and laboratory work are frequently obligatory. A web-based communication platform is used in the majority of courses as complement.The programme represents full-time work, with an average of 20 hours of scheduled classes a week. Examination

During your Study Programme in IT-Design: Information Systems Design, you have an opportunity to spend a semester (4th) studying abroad at one of Karlstad University's exchange partners. Students from IT-Design: Information Systems Design can spend the semester in universities such as the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, USA; Unversidade de Lisboa, Portugal, Universidad de Málaga in Spain and University of Siena, Italy. The teaching is firmly rooted in the industry. You will have opportunities to take part in a mentorship program, complete internships, and carry out your degree project and thesis work in collaboration with companies and industry partners. Throughout your studies, you will work with both real and fictional work-related cases, practical labs, and project assignments, as well as meet guest lecturers and take part in company visits and study trips.Within the framework of the Karlstad Business School, we also host events such as Sustainability Day and Karlstad Business School Day, where representatives from the business community actively participate.

There is a strong demand for qualified professionals both within the IT industry and in other companies and organizations that in various ways use or provide IT solutions.As an IT designer, you have the choice to work in the private or in the public sector. There is high demand for information system specialists in Sweden as well as internationally. Graduates have moved on to work with business development in IT, enterprise systems consultancy, business analysis, IT strategy and other areas requiring familiarity with IT, enterprise systems and business practice. Your knowledge of information systems will be advantageous to you in all these areas.
