Education
The content and scope of courses studied depend on the specialisation chosen, but all specialisations start with courses related to school, how it has evolved, how it is managed and controlled and how the conception of children and childhood has changed. In subject studies the emphasis is on children's reading and writing development and on their understanding of mathematical concepts. In addition, students study subject courses in English, the social sciences, the natural sciences and technology. All courses include practical/aesthetical forms of expression. Towards the end of the programme the teacher's role as a leader, cooperation with parents or guardians, and the evaluation and improvement of school practice are problematised.Form of Instruction
The forms of instruction in teacher education vary from course to course and can, for instance, include seminars, lectures, group exercises and laboratory sessions. Some components are mandatory and if so, this is specified in the respective syllabus.Examination
Examination formats in teacher education vary and can, for instance, include written exams, take-home eams, oral presentations and aesthetic forms of representation.Professional Contact
Theoretical studies alternate with practical placement periods in school, giving the students a chance to practice their future occupation under supervision. School teachers are also from time to time involved in the teaching at the university.Course of study
