Theory and practice in specialised theatre care in perioperative care with a focus on teamwork and leadership
22.5 ECTS creditsThe course integrates Nursing (5 credits) and Medical Science (17.5 credits), including 15 credits in clinical training.
Instruction is in the form of lectures, skills training, literature studies, group work, individual assignments, clinical logbook, and seminars, as well as ten weeks of clinical placement with field studies.
This is a full-time hybrid course, which means that instruction and examinations take place during on-campus sessions at Karlstad University, at local group meetings in the student's home region, and through distance learning.

Admission requirements:
Admission to the Study Programme for Specialist Nursing in Theatre Care.The responsibility and competence of the operating theatre nurse in perioperative care (15 credits), and clinical training (6 credits) in the course The theory and practice of basic theatre care in perioperative care.Upper secondary level Swedish 3 or Swedish as a second language 3, and English 6/A,orSwedish level 3 or Swedish as a second language level 3, and English level 2.An equivalence assessment can be made.
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
