Computer Networking I
7.5 ECTS creditsThe course mainly includes:
- the structure of the Internet, various components and services
- the function of different network applications (the web and http, FTP, e-mail, DNS)
- socket programming
- functionality and protocol in the different TCP/IP stack layers
- permanent and wireless local networks
Instruction is in the form of lectures, literature studies with reading instruction, study material, and hand-in assignments. There are also exercises and laboratory sessions.

Computer engineering students: Programming Techniques 7.5 ECTS credits and Software Development 7.5 ECTS credits, or equivalent.
Non-programme students: Computer Science 30 ECTS credits, including Software Development 7.5 ECTS, or equivalent.

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
