Advanced Semantics
The course starts with providing students with an overview of semantic phenomena, research areas and prevalent theories in the field. Research methods in semantics are then discussed, compared and practiced, leading into a critical examination of current issues in the field.
Course goals
Upon completion of the course, doctoral students should be able to
- explain key semantic phenomena,
- give an account of prevalent theories in semantics,
- demonstrate knowledge of various research areas in the field,
- demonstrate knowledge of methods to analyse semantic data and apply these, and
- critically examine issues in the field.

Examination
Assessment takes the form of oral presentations and an independently researched final essay. The topic of the final essay is chosen in consultation with the course teacher.
