Main instrument VI, Western classical music
15.0 ECTS creditsStudents study, interpret and perform a varied repertoire in terms of styles in Western classical music as well as music genres performed in other artistic contexts. They also analyse and apply repertoire, style, musical analysis and interpretation in relation to different conventions of musical performance and identify the methodological challenges of the repertoire concerned. Instruction in and applications of complex technical exercises are included. Students, whose main instrument is the piano, practise accompaniment, and all students play solo and chamber music repertoire requiring highly developed technical skills at a high musical level and good familiarity with style and performance praxis. Parts of the repertoire are performed in in-house as well as public concerts and in audition training. The course also includes discussion of methodological challenges and problems in studying and performing music, critical reflection and problematisation of different approaches to music making as well as conversation on skills in relation to professional demands. Instruction is in the form of tutorials, seminars and master classes.
