The EU H2020 funded project MONROE (Measuring Mobile Broadband Networks in Europe) builds and operates an open, European-scale platform with multi-homing capabilities to run experiments on operational Mobile Broadband (MBB) networks. External users can perform measurements and contribute hardware and software extensions to the platform through the process of Open Calls.
Welcome to Karlstad University! What and where have you studied before you began your employment here in February?
I completed my MSc from EIT Digital Master Program with a focus on innovation in Security and Privacy. During this program, I completed 1st year from University of Trento, Italy and 2nd year from Technical University of Berlin,Germany.
How do you like your new hometown?
I don’t like it, I love it!
On 8 March, Compare arranged a seminar on embedded systems at which Martin Blom, senior lecturer in computer science at Karlstad University, among others, gave a lecture on ”Robustness and efficiency testability in embedded systems: A systematic literature study”.
In the past year, a new network for actors working on or interested in embedded systems has emerged in Värmland and neighbouring areas.
A few years ago, Per Hurtig, researcher at Karlstad University, submitted a standardisation proposal to speed up the internet to the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force)*. Now, in 2016, the standard is finished.
Standardising internet mechanisms is a long process and since the first proposal of the optimisation RTOR (RTO Restart) was submitted, it has been evaluated and refined by the IETF “TCP Maintenance and Minor Extensions” working group.

Hej hej! Before coming to Karlstad I was doing my master's in Computer Science.
The Tor network is used by hundreds of thousands of people who want anonymous access to the internet to avoid censorship. Computer Science at Karlstad University is again the recipient of funding for its research on the anonymity network from the Internet Fund.
”The right to be anonymous on the net is an important issue for people all over the world, not least for human rights watchers, whistle blowers and journalists.
Students from the whole world now have the opportunity to apply to a new unique international multidisciplinary training and research programme where doctoral students will reason, design and develop innovative solutions to questions related to the protection of citizens’ privacy.
With increasing mobility and Internet use, the demand for digital services has increased and already reached critical and high assurance domains like e-Government, e-Health, and e-Business.
Our new colleague David Thät will be in a live videoconference with the signers of the FCC letter, and either or both the FCCs head engineer and cto about thenewly proposed FCC rules laid out in ET Docket No. 15-170 for RF Devices such as Wi-Fi routers.

The International research project NEAT (“A New, Evolutive API and Transport-Layer Architecture for the Internet”) has an ambitious plan to develop a new Internet transport system with an easy-to-use API (Application Programming Interface) for application developers.
Computer Science at Karlstad University has participated at the ATC workshop in the annual conference of the ACM Special Interest Group on Data Communication (SIGCOMM) on the applications, technologies, architectures, and protocols for computer communication.
