Strong Job Market After Education in Sports and Health
2024-02-09What can you actually work with after completing the Sports and Health Coaching Programme at Karlstad University? At least once a year, current students of the programme receive answers during alumni days organized by the programme. During the latest event, several former students attended and shared about their jobs after graduation.
With each passing year, graduates enter the workforce from the sports and health coach program, becoming references for current and prospective students. The alumni day showcased a wide spectrum of career opportunities after graduation, with a common theme being staying active, seizing opportunities when they arise, and recognizing the significant benefits of volunteer work in the long run.
"Over the past fifteen years, we have seen an increase in businesses focusing on health and sports," says Christian Augustsson, programme leader for the Sports and health coaching programme. This has coincided with a growing societal emphasis on health, particularly for young and elderly populations. Consequently, the programme's network for work-based training has expanded, broadening our students' job prospects after graduation. This is evident especially when we interact with our alumni."
"The alumni day was very successful," says Stefan Wagnsson, representative for the subject sports science at Karlstad University. Several attending students expressed that, thanks to the inspiring presentations, they gained valuable insights into how to proceed after graduation, aiming to pursue and hopefully secure their dream jobs in the health and sports coaching field. Some students also envisioned themselves as future alumni, sharing their career paths after completing their studies."
The next alumni day is scheduled for spring 2024.
