Karlstad University and its partners offer a range of scholarships for international students. Each scholarship has specific eligibility requirements, funding levels, and application procedures.
Applicants may apply for all scholarships for which they are eligible; however, only one scholarship can be awarded per student.
Scholarships exclusive to Karlstad University
Karlstad University offers several scholarships that are exclusive to our university.
The Karlstad University Global Scholarship and the Karlstad University EH International Programme Scholarship are awarded directly by Karlstad University. In addition, Karlstad University works in close partnership with local companies in the Värmland region to offer scholarships exclusively for our students. These scholarships are available only at Karlstad University and are designed to support outstanding international students by reducing tuition fees.
Karlstad University Global Scholarship
Provides a 50% tuition-fee reduction for outstanding students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland admitted to an eligible master’s programme at Karlstad University. Number awarded per year: 4–8 scholarships

Karlstad University EH International Programme Scholarship
Offers a 50% tuition-fee reduction for excellent students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland admitted to an eligible STEM programme (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) at bachelor’s or master’s level. Number awarded per year: 1 scholarship

Erna Gruppen International Programme Scholarship
Offers a tuition-fee reduction of 100 000 SEK for outstanding students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland admitted to an eligible bachelor’s or master’s programme. The scholarship is preferably awarded to students within the media and business fields, reflecting Erna Gruppen’s leading role in local media, distribution and logistics, and property management in Sweden. Number awarded per year: 1 scholarship

Löfbergs International Programme Scholarship
Offers a tuition-fee reduction of 100 000 SEK for outstanding students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland admitted to an eligible bachelor’s or master’s programme. The scholarship is primarily intended for students from Colombia, reflecting Löfbergs’ strong ties to this coffee-producing country. Number awarded per year: 1 scholarship

Uddeholms International Programme Scholarship
Offers a tuition-fee reduction of 100 000 SEK for outstanding students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland admitted to an eligible bachelor’s or master’s programme. The scholarship is preferably awarded to students within the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), reflecting Uddeholms’ expertise as a leading manufacturer of tool steel for industrial applications. SI Scholarship for Global Professionals
A fully funded scholarship from the Swedish Institute for full-time one- or two-year master’s studies in Sweden. It is aimed at future global leaders committed to contributing to sustainable development.
