Education

The master programme in applied economics and advanced analytical methods comprises two years of full-time study (120 credits). There is also the option to complete the programme with a master level degree after one year of full-time study (60 credits). The overall focus is on applied economics. During the first semester, courses focus on economic theory and advanced data analysis (econometrics). This semester is identical regardless of whether the student chooses the two-year master track or the one-year master level track.
In the second semester, courses in public economics and macroeconomics are taken in both tracks. For the student who chooses the one-year track, the semester ends with an independent project worth 15 credits, while the student who chooses the two-year track instead takes 15 credits of theoretical courses.
The third semester consists of behavioral economics, an elective course, and optional courses in economics. During the third semester, there is an opportunity to spend a semester abroad, and during the fourth semester, a 30-credit independent project is written.

Form of Instruction

Students have an active role in the learning process and through independent assignments. In addition to lectures and exercises, teaching also consists of seminars based on written and oral presentations with a special focus on critically discussing methods, theories and assumptions.
