Systems modeling and simulation

• A review of statistical analysis, including ANOVA, and basic principles of queuing theory used for performance analysis.
• Analytical modeling and evaluation of computer systems.
• Simulation-based evaluation, with a focus on discrete event simulation.
• Performance evaluation using emulation techniques.

The course is oriented toward a practical application of theories and concepts, mainly focused on performance evaluation in the areas of network, security, and software development.

The course consists of lectures and laboratory sessions.

Progressive specialisation: A1N (has only first‐cycle course/s as entry requirements)

Education level: Master's level

Admission requirements: Upper secondary level English 6 or English level 2. Computer networking I (7.5 credits), Operating systems (5 credits) and Mathematical statistics (7.5 credits). An equivalence assessment can be made.

Selection: Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
