IMPORTANT! NEW DATE: 17-18 August 2022. INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON CRITICAL POLICY STUDIES – EXPLORING THE PREMISES AND POLITICS OF CAROL BACCHI’S WPR APPROACH
AUGUST 2022, KARLSTAD UNIVERSITY, SWEDEN
NEW DATE: 17th - 18th August 2022
The Symposium is to be held from Wednesday 17th - Thursday 18th August, 2022 in Karlstad, and is being hosted by the research group Critical studies on Power and Politics (led by Professor Malin Rönnblom) at the Department of Political, Historical, Religious and Cultural Studies, Karlstad University. It is being co-arranged with Professor Emerita Carol Bacchi, University of Adelaide, and Professor Susan Goodwin, University of Sydney.

The main objective of the Symposium to open channels of communication among researchers who have engaged with, or who plan to engage with, the WPR approach in order to bring to light the types of analyses being produced and to encourage further collaboration. This event was originally planned for June 2020, but has been postponed twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Scholars with previously accepted abstracts will automatically be invited again, but there is also space for additional participants to submit an abstract by April 14, 2022 (note the deadline has been extended from April 1 until April 14).
The symposium will have a limited number of participants and the abstracts will be evaluated in relation to the focus of the call. Presenters will be notified by May 15, 2022. Papers will be 3000-4000 words and are to be submitted by July 1, 2022.
The format of the symposium will be keynotes followed by panels, paper presentations and general discussions. There will be a particular focus on showcasing new and emerging work from junior researchers.
Confirmed keynotes are Professor Emerita Carol Bacchi, University of Adelaide, Professor Susan Goodwin, University of Sydney, and Professor Elisabeth Prügl, The Graduate Institute, Geneva.
Symposium ‘Kick-Off’
A ‘Kick-Off’ event was held on 13 October 2021 and attended by some 50 scholars from around the world. The purpose of the kick-off was to discuss themes for the Symposium and become acquainted with others interested in WPR. Here are the links to:
