Saga Bokne
Research
My research centres on fantasy literature from the English-speaking world. I am particularly interested in the way fantasy reflects and relates to societal issues, and of fantasy as a political arena. I am also interested in the role of the fantasy genre as a manager and re-inventor of mythology and folklore.
In my dissertation project, I study fairies in modern fantasy literature, with the aim of finding out both what the fairy figure "means" in the modern fantasy genre, and how this figure has evolved from its roots in folklore and in canonical literature.
Collaboration
I am a member of the Network for Speculative Fiction and the Nordic Network of the Fantastic and Cultural History
