Research
I conduct research in the didactics of natural sciences and geography, with a focus on teaching for sustainable development. My research addresses, among other things, how social issues with natural science content – such as climate change, risks and crisis preparedness – can be used in teaching to strengthen students' critical thinking, argumentation skills and ability to take action. I lead and participate in national and international research projects, including the Swedish Research Council-funded Bringing Climate Change to School (BriCCS), which investigates how students' perception of risk affects climate-related behaviour.
A central part of my work is practice-oriented research in close collaboration with teachers, museums and community actors, for example through the development of assessment models for argumentation, game-based learning environments such as Riskköping, and methods for mapping and communicating the values of the forest. My research is interdisciplinary and straddles the boundaries between natural sciences, social sciences and the arts, with the aim of contributing to teaching that equips students to understand and act in a complex and changing world.
Teaching
I teach on the teacher training programme, both in the primary teacher programme and in courses focused on natural science knowledge and didactics. Within the subject teacher programme, I am responsible for and supervise independent projects and degree projects.
