Henrik Rahm

Research
My current research is primarily focused on two interdisciplinary projects on nuclear discourse, one on emergency preparedness and one on communication.
The common denominator for my research is social settings and discourse analyses. My thesis deals with the coverage of five major strikes in Swedish daily press 1879-1995, aiming at an understanding of the interplay between language, journalism and society. I have also studied discourses on advertisement, authorities and economy.
Three research projects on economic discourse in coopeeration with Alexander Paulsson, Niklas Sandell coh Peter Svensson (Lund University)
Together with Ingela Johansson (Lund University), Marianna Smaragdi (Lund University) and Carmen Sanchidrián Blanco (Málaga University) I plan a diachronic project on the influence of Selma Lagerlöf's book The Wonderful Adventures of Nils on education and culture in Sweden, Spain and Greece. The perspectives emanate from discourse analysis, science of education, literary studies, didactics and linguistics.
Teaching
I teach courses in discourse analysis and text analysis and supervise bachelor and master theses. I also supervise doctoral students, two at Karlstad University and one at Lund University.

I also have a strong commitment for internationalization and have been guest lecturer at various universities. The exchange with Málaga is particularly successful, where I have been on exchange twelve times since I initiated this exchange in 2011, partly at the Department of English, German and French, partly at the Faculty of Education (that is teacher training programmes). Since 2015 I have given lectures and seminars in English and Spanish at the University of Málaga. It has also resulted in good contacts with, among others, Carmen Sanchidrián Blanco, professor of Theory and History of Education.
