Christel Sundqvist
Research
My research is grounded in the concept of inclusion and the development of inclusive education. More specifically, I study the professional roles of special education teachers and special educators, and how these professions can collaborate to develop support for students in the classroom and create better support structures.
My research focuses partly on guidance and consultation as forms of collaboration, and partly on co‑teaching between teachers with and without special educational expertise. I am currently leading a research project in Finland on the implementation of co‑teaching in grades 7–9, and I am participating in a research project in Sweden that examines how co‑teaching can be implemented and developed in a Swedish context. The Swedish project is funded by the Swedish Institute for Educational Research.
In recent years, I have also broadened my research to include multi-professional collaboration within student health work.
