The law programme at Karlstad Business School among the 20 most popular degree programmes in Sweden
2025-06-03– We offer a high-quality programme, which has earned a strong reputation among applicants, says David Johansson, programme director and senior lecturer in civil law at Karlstad Business School.
What can prospective students expect from the law programme?
– Our law programme is modern and well-adapted to today’s job market. It consists of a variety of courses covering everything from more traditional law subjects, such as criminal law and procedural law, to highly topical areas of law dealing with IT, innovation and AI. Throughout the programme, the focus is on core skills in legal methodology as well as written and oral communication. Our students learn early on to take responsibility for their studies, and by the time they graduate, they are well equipped to independently meet the challenges that tomorrow’s legal professionals will face. In addition to being broad and versatile, the programme also offers students the opportunity to specialise in areas they find particularly interesting toward the end of their studies.
What is the key strength of the law programme at Karlstad Business School?
– Our main advantage lies in the fact that the programme is taught by competent and dedicated teachers. The teachers are passionate about developing the law programme, and since we are still a relatively new programme, we dare to try new approaches and ideas to improve the quality of the education. We keep a close dialogue with our students, and because we have a limited number of places on the programme, the distance between teacher and student is shorter. This makes it easier for us as teachers to reach individual students.
What are possible career paths as a law graduate from Karlstad Business School?
– Students who graduate from our programme can work in areas ranging from business law and administrative law to criminal law and family law, just to name a few examples. Our former students now work at law firms, courts, government agencies and companies, among other places. In short, you will be qualified to work in any field where law graduates are needed.
