Hotspot 2026 Is Just Around the Corner
2026-02-04It is almost time for this year’s edition of Hotspot – the 29th in order. For one full day, Karlstad University will be transformed into a vibrant hub for exhibitors, students, and staff eager to network and showcase themselves. Here is what you need to know about the event.
Hotspot is an annual career fair organised by a project group of around twenty students at Karlstad University, led by project manager Erica Jansson. This year’s fair will take place on Wednesday, 11 February, and will be open to visitors between 9:30 and 15:00.
Ahead of this year’s event, 118 exhibitors have registered to participate, and the project group estimates that around 8,000 visitors will attend during the day – clear signs of very high interest.
Limited parking availability
Due to the event, parts of the university’s parking areas will be reserved for exhibitors. As a result, parking availability for students and staff will be limited on this day. Visitors are therefore encouraged to leave their cars at home. This is also a great opportunity to consider the environment and instead make use of the excellent bus connections, as well as the cycling and pedestrian routes to the university.
The affected parking areas are:
- The entire parking lot behind the library
- The rear section of the parking area behind Building 11
- KBAB’s parking lot north of the library, across Universitetsgatan
Exhibitors will use special parking permits displayed in their windscreens to ensure that only authorised vehicles are parked in designated areas. Vehicles parked without such permits risk receiving a parking fine.
New for this year
To improve accessibility and minimise traffic congestion, the project group has redesigned the traffic flow for this year’s event. Please pay close attention to signage and follow instructions from Hotspot staff on site.
Fair areas
The following areas of the university will serve as exhibition spaces during the day:
- The Newspaper Reading Room in the library – visitors are instead referred to rooms 12A131/132
- The Aula foyer
- Transformum
- Café Gläntan
Karlstad University at Hotspot
This year, Karlstad University will have its own stand at the fair, with a focus on advanced studies. Programme directors, study and career counsellors, and student ambassadors will be available on site to answer questions for anyone interested in further developing their expertise through continued studies.
Why Hotspot?
Hotspot offers a unique opportunity for students to exchange knowledge and experience with representatives from relevant industries and educational fields. The fair provides opportunities for environmental scanning, professional dialogue, and reflection on future developments, making it a highly valuable meeting place. Hotspot is therefore well worth a visit – don’t miss it!
See you there!
