Certain information has leaked following the cyberattack
2025-09-08Miljödata’s investigation into the consequences following the cyberattack shows that certain information about current and former employees at Karlstad University has been leaked.
Miljödata, which provides the system Adato for documenting long-term sick leave and rehabilitation, announced last week that the company had been targeted in a cyberattack and that personal data may have been leaked.
Miljödata’s investigation now shows that certain personal data about current and former employees at Karlstad University has leaked from Adato to the hacker or hackers behind the cyberattack.
Information that has leaked includes:
- Names
- Personal identity numbers
- Contact details
- Number of sick days
Most of the data is considered public information that can be accessed by external parties.
Miljödata’s investigation continues, and so far, it does not show any signs that information containing details about medical certificates, trade union affiliation, notes by managers or information about the grounds for rehabilitation plans has been leaked. Karlstad University has sent a request to Miljödata for more detailed information about exactly which data has leaked and which current and former employees are affected.
While the investigation is ongoing, Karlstad University has decided to keep Adato closed.
