New Master’s Program in Mechanical Engineering with Data-Driven Specialization
2025-12-19Karlstad University Launches New Master’s Program in Mechanical Engineering with Data-Driven Specialization.
The new Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering – Specialization in Data-Driven Mechanical Engineering, set to begin in August 2026. This innovative program reflects the growing importance of data analytics and computational methods in modern mechanical engineering, preparing graduates to meet the challenges of Industry 4.0 and beyond.
– The program combines traditional mechanical engineering principles with advanced data-driven techniques, enabling students to leverage big data, machine learning, and simulation tools for design, optimization, and predictive maintenance, says Anton Tkachuk. Graduates will gain expertise in areas such as:
- Digital Twins and Simulation-Based Design
- Machine Learning Applications in Engineering
- Data Analytics for Predictive Maintenance
The specialization is designed for engineers who want to integrate computational intelligence into mechanical systems, making them more efficient, sustainable, and adaptive. The programme is based on collaboration with industry and with the participation of the computer science department. Generous financial support of the Knowledge Foundation within the AVANS project is acknowledged!
