– Meeting others who conduct research in related fields and learning about regulatory frameworks in other countries is important for gaining new perspectives on Swedish law, says Germaine Hillerström from Karlstad Business School.
ISFL is a politically independent international organization that brings together researchers and university lecturers from more than 50 countries. In 2026, the World Conference was held in Istanbul, Turkey.
During the four-day conference, both Germaine Hillerström and Erika Sandström from the Law Department at the School of Business presented their research.
– After the presentations, there was an opportunity to discuss our research topics with scholars from around the world. I found these discussions highly rewarding, says Erika Sandström. One of the highlights was listening to Lady Brenda Hale, former Justice of the United Kingdom Supreme Court, deliver a keynote address. She is a truly inspiring individual who has been a pioneer both in advancing women's opportunities in the legal profession and in the fight for human rights.
– The opportunity to meet researchers from all over the world is of great importance, says Germaine Hillerström. Meeting others who conduct research in related fields and learning about regulatory frameworks in other countries is essential for gaining new perspectives on Swedish law. We were also the only two participants from Sweden, which helps raise the international profile of the School of Business.
– For me, the conference was not only a valuable opportunity to present my own research and gain new perspectives, but also a chance to establish international contacts for future teaching exchanges with other universities.
