Scholarships through Karlstad University's Scholarship Committee
Karlstad University have a number of scholarships that are announced through the University’s Scholarship Committee. Six of these are for international applicants only and six foundations offer scholarships to those who are already students at Karlstad University.
Available scholarships for international starting autumn semester 2026
The following six scholarships are open for international applicants only, those who are not already students at Karlstad University. The regular application period is January 16 – 15 February each year. The specific terms and application requirements for each scholarship are provided on the respective scholarship pages. EH International Programme Scholarship (Stiftelsen Eva och Henrys stipendiefond)
Karlstad University offers a tuition scholarship for outstanding international students from outside the EU/EEA who wish to pursue a master's or a bachelor’s program. This scholarship aims to support talented students with a strong academic background and a commitment to excellence. Application period: January 16 - February 15, 2026.
Karlstad University Global Scholarship
The Karlstad University Global Scholarship provides a 50% tuition-fee reduction for outstanding students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland who are admitted to a master’s degree programme at Karlstad University. Application period: January 16 - February 15, 2026.
Erna Gruppen International Programme Scholarship
The Erna Gruppen International Programme Scholarship provides a tuition-fee reduction of 100 000 SEK for outstanding students from countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland who are admitted to an eligible bachelor’s or master’s programme at Karlstad University. Application period: January 16 - February 15, 2026.
This scholarship is made possible through the generous support of Erna Gruppen. Erna Gruppen is a leading Swedish company within local media, distribution and logistics, as well as property management. To reflect the company’s areas of activity, the scholarship is preferably awarded to students within the media and/or business fields.
Infrakraft International Programme Scholarship
The Infrakraft International Programme Scholarship provides a tuition-fee reduction of 50 000 SEK for outstanding students from countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland who are admitted to an eligible bachelor’s or master’s programme at Karlstad University. Application period: January 16 - February 15, 2026.
This scholarship is made possible through the generous support of Infrakraft. Infrakraft is a Swedish infrastructure company headquartered in Karlstad, delivering integrated infrastructure solutions and contributing to sustainable development in the Swedish and Norwegian transport networks. To reflect the company’s core areas of operation, the scholarship is preferably awarded to students within engineering and sustainability-oriented business fields.
Löfbergs International Programme Scholarship
The Löfbergs International Programme Scholarship provides a tuition-fee reduction of 100 000 SEK for outstanding students from countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland who are admitted to an eligible bachelor’s or master’s programme at Karlstad University. The scholarship is primarily intended for students from Colombia. If no eligible applicants from Colombia are found, applicants from other countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland may also be considered. Application period: January 16 - February 15, 2026.
This scholarship is made possible through the generous support of Löfbergs. Löfbergs is one of Sweden’s leading coffee producers, with strong links to coffee-producing regions. To reflect this connection, the scholarship is preferably awarded to students from Colombia.
Uddeholms International Programme Scholarship
The Uddeholms International Programme Scholarship provides a tuition-fee reduction of 100 000 SEK for outstanding students from countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland who are admitted to an eligible bachelor’s or master’s programme at Karlstad University. Application period: January 16 - February 15, 2026.
This scholarship is made possible through the generous support of Uddeholms AB. Uddeholms is a leading manufacturer of tool steel for industrial tools. To reflect the company’s business and area of expertise, the scholarship is preferably awarded to students within the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
Available scholarships for students at Karlstad University spring semester 2026
The regular application period is March 1–31 each year. If not all scholarships are awarded during the spring semester, additional calls may be announced during the autumn application period, October 1–31. To apply, you need a Varbi account.

Ellen Lundbergs foundation - Music scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to students conducting in-depth studies in the field of music. Application period: 1 - 31 March.
The Bengt Ekholm Foundation for Music Studies
Scholarships aim to promote in-depth studies in the field of music. Application period: 1 - 31 March.
The Värmland Jubilee Fund
The aim of the scholarships is to encourage and reward students who have contributed to the future development of Värmland through their studies and excellent results. Application period: 1 - 31 March.
Samfonden - The Karlstad Teachers’ Training College Memorial Fund
Awarded to students within the teacher training programmes and the child and youth education programmes. The scholarship is primarily a travel grant to students conducting a project, e.g., a degree project, abroad. Application period: 1 - 31 March.
The Gerd, Gunnar and Gordon Foundation
Awarded to students in the field of technology who have developed an idea that could lead to a patent or manufacturing in Sweden. Application period: 1 - 31 March.
The Eva and Henry Scholarship Foundation - undergraduate and advanced level students
Awarded to a student with an entrepreneurial spirit who studies science or technology and has some element of economics in their studies, for a stay in a non-Swedish-speaking environment for activities related to the studies. Application period: 1 - 31 March.
The Eva and Henry Scholarship Foundation - PhD students
Awarded to a PhD student with an entrepreneurial spirit who studies science or technology and has some element of economics in their studies, for a stay in a non-Swedish-speaking environment for activities related to the studies. Application period: 1 - 31 March.
