Accommodation
Finding accommodation as a student can be challenging, but in Karlstad, the situation is much better than in many other university cities in Sweden. According to the 2025 housing report by the Swedish National Union of Students (SFS), Karlstad offers the highest possible level of security for student housing. As a new student, you can expect to receive a housing offer within one month.
Rent typically ranges from SEK 4,200 to 4,600 for a corridor room and SEK 4,700 to 5,000 for a student apartment. Some housing options also offer 10-month rental contracts, meaning you don’t have to pay rent during the summer months.
Karlstad University offers support to admitted students in the housing process.
