Education
You meet committed teaching staff by the National Agency describe, "to have an impressive holistic approach to learning." We give priority to education in dialogue instead of one-way communication to a large lecture hall. You will also learn to work in projects and managing group dynamics in order to be equipped for business work. In the end of the program you choose an area for you to specialize within. You get you a broad expertise in energy and environmental technologies, where knowledge of optimization of energy transformations is central. You meet the technology practical both in the laboratory and in industry. You read the theory needed to develop technologies that are more energy efficient, more economical and less environmental impact. Technology courses interspersed with practical and research-projects and expansion in areas such as design, materials or industrial economics.
We encourage our students to read parts of the training abroad. During the program's seventh semester is there a block of elective and optional courses. Many of our students choose to study that semester at another university abroad. Contacts can be mediated by central functions for International Studies at Karlstad University.
The program's students have historically shown great interest in doing thesis work in a developing country. We now have a well-developed network of contacts with, among others Ghana where we are happy to recommend students to travel to connection with their thesis.
Form of Instruction
Instruction is given in the form of lectures, classes, practices, laboratory work, and as project work under supervision.Examination
Examination usually takes place at the end of each course, module, or unit. There are no set examination periods, and generally no final exam at the end of a semester, an academic year, or a complete study programme.Professional Contact
In connection with projects students are introduced to one of the programme partner companies or any other suitable company, one of which will very likely play a part in the completion of a degree project.Course of study

Employment Market
With knowledge of advanced energy technologies, modern cleaning technology, environmental technology, measurement technology, modelling and optimization of energy systems, you have broad and flexible skills that are attractive on the labor market. As a civil engineer are great opportunities to influence your career. You can choose to work as a specialist or with managerial duties. For example, you can work as a consultant, an environmental, energy and construction companies (heating / cooling / ventilation), in a manufacturing industry (heat pumps, appliances, vehicles, etc.) or in a process in the engineering, steel or pulp / paper. For those who want to work with environmental management is the combination of technical expertise and environmental expertise highly valued in the labor market. We have more than 20 years of experience in higher education of engineers in the energy and environment sectors. Our students are valued and sought after in the labor market. Our alumni can be found in many different areas.
Degree
Students who meet the general as well as the special requirements will, on completion of the programme, be awarded a degree of Master of Science in Energy and Environmental Engineering. For examination and assessment regulations, see under the heading "Learning outcomes" in the programme study plan.Further Studies
Upon completion of the programme, you may continue with doctoral studies. The subject in which your doctor's degree will be awarded will depend on your previous studies. You also need to meet the prerequisites for doctoral studies of the subject chosen.Alumni
