Removing Barriers to Language, Writing and Reading Teaching and Learning
15.0 ECTS creditsThe aim of the course is to provide in-depth knowledge about obstacles and opportunities in teaching related to language, writing, and reading learning. The course also aims to provide in-depth knowledge about the importance of collaboration and the design of learning environments in relation to preventive and supportive measures regarding language, writing, and reading learning. The course includes field study, mandatory literature seminars, and individual and group assignments.
The course covers the following:
- theories of language, writing, and reading development, as well as language, writing, and reading learning,
- special education perspectives,
- preventive work and early interventions,
- mapping and analysis of complex learning environments,
- specific issues and language-supportive teaching regarding language, writing, and reading development,
- mapping and assessment materials for language, writing, and reading development, and
- interview and observation as mapping and research methods.

Admission requirements
A teaching degree of at least 180 ECTS credits or at least 30 ECTS credits at the G2F level or higher in social science or behavioural science as a main area of study, and upper secondary level Swedish 3 or Swedish as a second language 3 and English 6 or A, or equivalent
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
