Social Psychology I
30.0 ECTS creditsStudents acquire instruments to understand humans as group and social beings. The course also lays the foundation for further studies in social psychology.
Instruction is in the form of lectures, group assignments, and independent projects.
The course consists of the following modules:
Module 1: What is Social Psycology? 7.5 ECTS Credits The module introduces basic concepts and theories of social psychology with a focus on identity and socialisation.
Module 2: Social Interaction and Strategies, 7.5 ECTS Credits The module covers theories of the ways in which people form perceptions in interaction with others. The module illustrates how individuals adopt and use different forms of expression, norms, values, and language in their daily interaction with, for instance, family, school, and workplace.
Module 3: Understanding Social Interaction, 7.5 ECTS Credits The module introduces various social psychological research areas, for example, emotions, organization, gender, class and ethnicity, as well as social psychological methods for empirical studies. Students carry out a limited application project.
Module 4: Investigating Social Interaction Different social psychology methods to carry out empirical studies are presented. Students carry out a limited application project.
