Domestic violence in a social work perspective

The course comprises the following components:
- basic introduction to gender studies,
- domestic violence, definitions, scope and theoretical explanatory models
- consequences of violence, normalisation process and the leaving process
- violence in same-sex relationships and vulnerable groups such as honour-related violence, violence against the disabled, violence against the elderly and violence against people with drug problems
- masculinity and violence
- children living with violence
- legal aspects and responsibility of the social services regarding domestic violence
- the cooperation of authorities and organisations in approaching and supporting victims of violence, children exposed to violence and the aggressors.

Admission requirements:
Social Work programme (SGGEN) 150 ECTS credits plus upper secondary school level Swedish 3/B or Swedish as a second language 3/B and English 6/A, or equivalent.
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
