30.0 ECTS creditsModule 1 Disciplinary and Educational Perspectives on Democracy, 7.5 ECTS cr
Students deepen their disciplinary and educational perspectives on democracy. Current debate on democracy and research related to education is treated. The content of human freedoms and rights is problematised. Students carry out a analysis of upper secondary steering documents and textbooks.
The perspectives of society, teacher and student are considered throughout the module.
Module 2 Research on Individual, Society and Education 7.5 ECTS cr.
Students deepen their knowledge of how the perspectives of individual, school and society interact. Political action and expressions are treated in a present and future perspective. Students are introduced to concepts such as deliberation and communicative action. They also develop skills in reviewing and assessing research in relation to methodological considerations.
Module 3 Degree Project 15 ECTS cr
Students complete an independent degree project, with an emphasis on teaching and an aspect of democracy that is likely to be topical in upper secondary education. The topic is chosen in consultation with the supervisor. In addition, students are required to defend the thesis at a seminar, participate in all the seminars and serve as a peer reviewer.
Supervision is provided in groups and individually, and only for the course duration. Reregistered students are offered supervision if circumstances permit.
