Scientific method II
7.5 ECTS creditsInstruction is in the form of literature study and supervision. The course is mainly net-based.
The course comprises the following components:
- The most common methods for collecting empirical data, such as interviews, focus groups, and questionnaires
- The most common methods of data analysis, for descriptive and comparative statistics as well as qualitative content analysis
- Formulating a research question
- Making an inventory of knowledge in an area and identifying knowledge gaps
- Introduction to different types of literature study
- The usefulness of literature study in relation to evidence-based clinical practice
- Structure for formulating a research question (for instance PICO)
- Credibility in relation to qualitative research, validity and reliability in relation to quantitative research
- Review templates used as support to assess credibility, validity, and reliability
- Structured database searches including search strategies and presenting search results
- Relevance review of scientific articles for compilation of results in a literature study

A Degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing plus Scientific Method I, 7.5 ECTS credits, or equivalent
