GIS, Social Planning and Project Work

The more advanced functions of a GIS software are dealt with in practical exercises.
Students use GIS for practical exercises which provide examples of applications and analyses, primarily in the area of social planning. The use of GIS in different sectors in society is explored in group assignments.
Students carry out a group project involving, for example, children's routes to school, producing material for decisions on a new traffic plan, or investigating the accessibility of services in rural and urban areas respectively.

60 ECTS credits completed in the Spatial and Social Planning Programme, including the courses Social Planning I, 7.5 ECTS credits, and Social Planning II, 7.5 ECTS credits, plus at least 4 ECTS credits for the course Introduction to GIS as a Tool in Social Planning, 7.5 ECTS credits, or equivalent
