If you have a bachelor's degree in music, you can develop your skills in interpretation and repertoire with this one-year education. In a beautiful and inspiring environment at the Ingesund Academy of Music outside Arvika, there is ample space for personal development, solo playing as well as many concert opportunities. In addition, great opportunities are given to play together with others, both in smaller ensembles, string orchestra, symphony orchestra, symphonic brass band and vocal ensembles and choirs. Here you also have access to practice and teaching rooms for a large part of the day. The teaching is conducted by highly qualified and highly skilled teachers who are all passionate about their work.

DESCRIPTION
The interpretation year is a one-year independent course at advanced level, where you get to work on developing your artistic and professional ability. The education is an extension year aimed at those who already have a bachelor's degree in music but want to study further towards a professional career as a musician or a master's degree. During the course, you develop your ability to prepare for public concerts and video recordings. Furthermore, you can learn to independently navigate a changing musical life, as well as learn how to create networks to continue to develop in. Freedom and flexibility have been built into the design of the course to match the demands of musicians who are starting to receive assignments in the professional music life.
The interpretation year with a focus on Western classical music is given to all instruments that can also apply for the Artistic Bachelor program: piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet and guitar. On request, the course can also be sought by permanent ensembles consisting within these instruments. The course's examination includes an interpretation project in the form of a concert or video recording. Unlike bachelor's or master's programs, this independent course in interpretation at advanced level does not have an accredited degree, but gives a course certificate in interpretation upon completion of the course.
CONTENTS OF THE COURSE
The course includes the student studying, interpreting and performing a stylistically and historically varied repertoire. The course deals with performance practice and sense of style, artistic methods and processes, artistic approaches and assessments as well as technical and design considerations in current repertoire. The students' musical performance and role as musicians is also highlighted. The choice of repertoire is based on a broad musical and artistic field of activity within different musical styles, but partly also based on the student's profile, whereby the repertoire may vary depending on the student. The course includes instrumental lessons, ensemble, rehearsal with a pianist or repertoire studies as well as stage preparation, entrepreneurship and concert activities. The course's teaching methods consist of individual lessons, joint lessons, seminars and master classes.
ENTRANCE EXAMS
The proficiency tests for the Interpretation year course take place through the submission of work tests on video. You demonstrate your technical playing skills along with your artistic expressiveness by recording video of your main instrument.
Repertoire requirements:
Three films with different pieces of music. The repertoire must be varied with different characters and from different eras and styles. The total time for the films should be around 10-20 min.

INSTRUCTIONS AND CRITERIA FOR VIDEOS
- For the video to be considered valid, your face and hands must be visible at all the time.
- Each video should have a maximum of six minutes. If any of your pieces are longer than that, you may yourself choose the 6 minutes what best represents your talents and skills.
- Each video should be filmed in one shooting. No clips or other technical edits are allowed.
- The sound has to be in good quality, and you as main player has to be heard clearly all the time.
- Good image quality with light and good sharpness.
- The recordings should be uploaded in MP4 or MOV formats.
Application to the course is open from 1 December to 15 January.

Admission requirements:
90 ECTS credits in Music, including at least 30 ECTS credits at the G2F level or higher. As well as a passing grade for an entrance exam test.
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
