Teachers Education Degree Project
15.0 ECTS creditsStudents conduct an empirical study and write a thesis, discussed in seminar. They also perform as a peer reviewer and participate actively in seminar discussions. The degree project topic is chosen by the student in consultation with the supervisor. Supervisor and student maintain contact throughout the project period.
Supervision is provided for the course duration, unless there are special circumstances. Reregistered students are only offered supervision if circumstances permit. The examiner decides if this is the case on student's request.
The course also comprises research methods and theory of science. Students are expected to read a number of articles in these areas.
The final project comprises the following components:
a) formulating a topic, aims and research questions
b) using relevant literature analytically to further specify and develop their aim
c) choosing an appropriate research method
d) choosing material
e) collecting, analysing and compiling primary material
f) analysing and discussing the information in relation to theory, aims and research questions
g) considering relevant research ethics
h) producing and submitting a written project report.
The final product must have a logical outline and be clearly written in Swedish, or another language if approved by the examiner. Consistent use of standard norms for presenting material and making references (notes and bibliography) is required.
On the approval of the supervisor, the completed essay is submitted to the seminar where it is peer reviewed and discussed by the seminar participants. Students are responsible for making the number of copies required of the essay or otherwise making it available to all seminar participants.
