Assessment, Grading and Practical Placement: Vocational Education
15.0 ECTS creditsModule 1 Grading in theory and practice, 7.5 ECTS cr
- Assessment and feedback as a basis for student learning, different assessment purposes and suitable formats, how to integrate assessment in teaching, and consequences in terms of theories on learning and subject-specific teaching perspectives,
- Assessment and grading in practice: test design, learning outcome formulation, various forms of national assessment guides, such as the test bank provided by the Agency of Education and the national tests,
- Training in how different assessment material can be weighted and appraised in grading,
- The role of assessment in the evaluation of school goal fulfillment, as well as local, national, and international knowledge tests and their relation to follow-up and assessment,
- Definitions of the concepts equity, reliability, and validity, and analyses of the relation between them,
- Assessment issues and their links to different subjects,
- Aspects of class, gender, and ethnicity problematised in relation to assessment,
- Course content in relation to an international as well as a national historical context,
- Possibilities and problems related to digitalisation discussed in relation to assessment.
- Preparation for practical placement in the subject area.
Module 2 Practical placement, 7.5 ECTS cr
Students engage in the following activites:
-interpreting and implementing central steering documents,
-implementing pedagogical and and subject-specific teaching theories with consideration of pupils' different knowledge, abilities, and needs,
-planning, leading, and evaluating a longer period of teaching while taking part in all aspects of their future professional role,
-handling special education needs practically in cooperation with others,
-documenting, assessing, and/or grading pupils' knowledge in relation to learning outcomes,
-using digital tools in school.
