Module 2 Socio-Legal Perspectives on Human Conditions and Actions, 15 ECTS cr
- a basic sociological perspective on society is presented and problematised
- a basic jurisprudence perspective on society is presented and problematised
- sustainable development is discussed in a sociological perspective with an emphasis on international issues
- the sociological and jurisprudence perspectives are related to the concept of society through subject-specific teaching and identity-creating theories and applications.
Module 3 Economic Conditions I, 7.5 ECTS cr
- a basic economics perspective on society with an emphasis on microeconomic theory is presented and problematised
- a basic economics perspective on society with an emphasis on microeconomic theory is presented and problematised
- a basic private economy perspective is presented and problematised
- the economics perspective is related to the concept of society through subject-specific teaching and identity-creating theories and applications
Module 4 Economic Conditions II, 7.5 ECTS cr
- a basic economics perspective on society with an emphasis on macroeconomic theory is presented and problematised
- sustainable development is discussed in an economic perspective
- the economics perspective is related to the concept of society through subject-specific teaching and identity-creating theories and applications
- students are prepared for the practical placement
Module 5 Teaching Civics in Theory and Practice, 7.5 ECTS cr
Students have the opportunity to
- ask questions on teaching practice and answer them on the basis of their experiences and current research
- apply national curricula and local pedagogical planning in their own teaching
- apply teaching theories and translate subject knowledge into teaching plans and reflect on the relation between theory and practice
- use ICT as a tool in lesson planning and internal communication
- discuss and reflect on the profession and professional development.
Module 6 The Ideas and Institutions of Politics, 15 ECTS cr
- a basic political science perspective on society is presented and problematised
- political ideas and ideologies are presented and problematised
- the Swedish political system is presented from a democratic and institutional perspective and compared with other national and international political systems
-t he political science perspective is related to the concept of society through subject-specific teaching and identity-creating theories and applications.
Module 7 The World Today, 7.5 ECTS cr
- an international perspective on politics and society is introduced and problematised
- subject-specific teaching issues are discussed in relation to sustainable development.
Module 8 Social Science Methods and Current Research, 7.5 ECTS cr
- central concepts and methods of relevance to a source critical approach
- central concepts and methods of relevance to validity, reliability and analysis in social science studies
- current social science education research
- students' own teaching is related to and problematised on the basis of current social science education research
- current research on grading and assessing in the school subject civics.
Module 9 Independent Academic Project, 7.5 ECTS cr
- academic writing, including independent formulation of topic and purpose, methodological choice and delimitation, collection and compilation of data, and the documentation of the study
- the academic text is presented with a logical disposition and correct handling of data presentation and referencing
- supervision of topic proposal and the investigation and writing process
- final seminar where students present their respective text, discuss other texts and serve as a peer reviewer
- all the components are part of the module assessment
- opportunity to pursue field studies in Kenya is provided.
